MIPIM 2018 offers a glimpse into the future

After a successful outing at MIPIM UK, which featured everything from candy floss stalls to panel debates on regional investment, we’re ready for the main event in Cannes.

An official MIPIM 2018 trailer has already whetted our appetite for the world’s biggest property blockbuster, so what can we expect from 13-16 March at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, when the red carpet becomes the runway for property’s leading international players?

The Theme

While the full agenda is yet to be announced, the emerging theme is very much focused on the future – not just the industry, but the world we live in. The big question posed is: what will urban life be like in 2030, or even 2050? In MIPIM’s Mapping World Urbanity video, figures suggest that 91% of the growth in global consumption will come from city dwellers, and 63% of people in emerging countries will live in cities.

So how will the industry develop and invest in real estate when cities start to rule the world? We’re interested to see how the conference programme shapes up with this theme in mind, and who drives the conversation in a meaningful way.

What do we know already?

MIPIM has released its ‘programme at-a-glance’ so delegates can start earmarking the events they want to attend, many of which focus on urban development. Other highlights include the MIPIM Awards, which honours the industry’s most outstanding projects, and the Startup Competition, which rewards innovation in the real estate market.

Who’s attending?

With more than 24,000 participants, including political leaders, investors, developers, and service providers, 3,000 exhibitors from 100 countries, countless conferences, panel sessions and seminars, MIPIM really is in a league of its own.

Whether you’re a first timer or old timer, we’ll be regularly blogging in the run-up to give you the latest news, insight and advice, so avoid the fear of missing MIPIM and book your pass today. You won’t regret it.
